BII Summit 2018, Dubai

Blockchain Innovation & Investment Summit 2018, Dubai

The Blockchain Innovation and Investment Summit (BII SUMMIT) is the largest event of its kind in the Middle East which focuses on case-study based presentations in ongoing and upcoming Blockchain based projects.

Venue of the event, Ritz-Carlton, Dubai International Financial Centre (DIFC), located in the heart of Dubai’s dynamic downtown.

We had a great meeting and discussion at DIFC, the night before the event with our fellow members from Ultroneum, a Crypto Bank project initiated by Malaysian crypto enthusiast.

Start the day by signing our presence on the attendance board.

Taking a photo with Ultroneum friends at the entrance.

Titan The Robot

One of the highlights was the opening ceremony by special guest, Titan the Robot.

The nice gentleman who communicates with the robot, Mark Foggett, Marketing Director of Titan the Robot.

BII Summit Speakers

BII Summit presents a unique platform with a diversified list of Speakers consisting of renowned Blockchain Tech companies, ICO Startups, Institutional Investment firms and Government Authorities. We managed to get intact with some of the global industry leaders and industry players related to Blockchain and A.I. technology over luncheon and exhibition area.

Simon Cocking, one of the official ambassador for BII Summit Dubai, Founder / Senior Editor of Irish Tech News, Chief Editor of Cryptocoin News, Blockchain Advisor and Strategist.

Khalid Parekh, CEO & Founder, along with his colleague of Amchart, a secure international Electronic Health Record (EHR) that will change the way we access patient and provider records, using Blockchain technology to eliminate health-record problems, improving portability and security.

Eran Eyal, CEO & Founder of Shopin, which made a very good presentation on The Future of Retail on the Blockchain. Shopin believes that in order to fix the broken state of today’s retail industry, shoppers must own and control their own data, and retailers must be given the tools and data access for a more equitable and sustainable retail economy.

Reggie Middleton, Founder & CEO of Veritaseum, who shared his point on Wall Street Disintermediation, and why this time it is really different. A nice presentation with an elaboration of the risk and rewards of participating in the shifting paradigm that threatens the legacy financial industry.

Stefan Hickmott, Founder & CEO, and Andrew Rowlstone, Head of Investor Relations from Evareium, which digitalised real estate investment via Blockchain, something I called tokenizing real estates.

Last but not least, check out the Ultroneum booth, in support of our Malaysian initiated project. Malaysia boleh !

Dr. Mohamed Al Hemairy from University of Sharjah, where civilizations meet. A very friendly and nice scholar.

VIP Gala Dinner

It was a great dinner session with some of the industry leaders working towards the same direction. We have the team from Veritaseum and Shopin with us on the same table.

We exchanged ideas and viewpoints over capitalism as what it is today, and how the shifting paradigm is threatening the legacy of existing industries by giving back people more power and control over their own data, especially in identity and financial part of it.

Learned a lot in a long single day. Tiring but happy, as how my colleagues describe it.

BII Summit Dubai 2018, Trip Summary

While most of the companies are startups with bold visions, we have yet to see any of them become as successful as companies such as Google and  Facebook of the Web Era.

A.I. could be the end game. We just happened to be in the Blockchain Era within a century of techology innovation where we are getting genuine and authentic data, linking up devices through IoT (Internet of Things).

We are feeding data and creating nodes for a powerful system of the future, something illustrated as Skynet in the movie The Terminator.

Yet, I don’t know the future. I didn’t come here to tell you how this is going to end. I came here to tell you how it all begins, what some of the people are doing and where we might be heading.

Where to go from here is a choice I leave to you.
